During the year the team in both Dublin and Cork participated in events that not only raised funds but encouraged us to get fit and have fun. In the midst of all the training and early mornings we were conscious of giving back to our community even in a small way by supporting the work of Pieta House.
Some of the events that we enjoyed were part of the Lord Mayor’s 5 Alive challenge, a series of road races held around Dublin. During the summer we took part in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle which was a busy event that took place in beautiful surroundings. The ladies on the Northwood team had an early start for the Darkness into Light walk in the Phoenix park. While other members of the team completed the 10k night run, ironman events and the Dublin city marathon.
Pieta house opened in Dublin over 10 years ago and in the intervening years has seen and helped over 20,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm. Over 5,000 people have come through the doors of its centres in the past year and their goal is to have a centre within 100km of every person in Ireland. They provide their services free of charge and rely on fundraising to support their efforts.
Northwood Technology team have managed to raise €608 and we are delighted to support their work. Paul Hennessy, Managing Director, commented ‘It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the staff in getting involved with this initiative. It has been a positive experience for all involved and we want to thank all those who supported our team throughout’.
