On a lovely sunny mid-morning the golfers were greeted at registration with a welcome breakfast and a goody bag designed to keep the energy levels up for the afternoons play on this renowned very long and challenging course. The atmosphere was great as old friends and customers greeted each other and looked forward to an enjoyable afternoon.
The group included those who have been loyal customers of Northwood Technology for many years and other installers who recently changed over to Northwood, welcoming all to the inaugural regional golf event Padraic Cafferty chairman of the company said that it was great to see so many familiar faces taking time out to join us for the day. All were in great spirits and delighted for the opportunity to discuss what was new in the industry with their colleagues and peers.
The talk was that business has recovered well and all were very optimistic about their business heading into the last quarter of 2017 and in the years ahead. It is reassuring to see such growth in the industry and all are excited about the new technologies coming on board. The day was a great opportunity to discuss challenges and get new ideas for fellow industry members, all while enjoying the fun of the game.
The play was a 3 ball scramble meaning that all 3 team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best. Play continues in this manner until the hole is completed. This was a great option because not all golfers were of the same ability so it really was a team effort and any team could be deemed the winner.
Reminiscing over the quality of the golf in challenging winds the attendees tucked into a full course dinner in a magnificent setting overlooking the 18th Green. The event came to a close with a welcome and appreciation speech by MD Paul Hennessy who thanked customers, sponsors and the entire in-house team for organising this successful event. Prize winners were in turn announced by Paul Tracey, an avid golfer himself but event responsibility on this occasion meant he was desk bound.
The winners were as follows :
Nearest the Pin: Michael McGinley (proud father of Paul)
Longest Drive: Billy Purcell
In 4th Place : HKC
3rd Place: ISA Group
2nd Place: Integral Security
All golfers clearly enjoyed trying to land a shot closer to the pin than that of the club professional and a total of 6 golfers actually did beat the pro on the day and were awarded with a novelty prize.
In total suspense and with a great deal of friendly banter the winning team with a fantastic nett score of 63.8 points was announced as TK Alarms and Tommy Kenny took possession of the inaugural trophy presented by Padraic Cafferty and in a short speech on behalf of his team Tommy thanked his team members Adrian and Martin and also Northwood for hosting the event. He was very complimentary of the course and club and promised that he would return next year to defend his holding of this perpetual trophy.
Padraic Cafferty, Executive Chairman of Northwood Technology and keen golfer remarked ‘It was a great day and I think everybody enjoyed meeting up with old friends. The day is about thanking our customers for their loyal support and assuring them of our continued commitment to offer them consistent support as and when it is needed, we view our relationship as a true partnership with a great sense of mutual respect and trust’.
Looking forward to 2018.
